| 3:10 am | Prompt #41 Tell about one of the happiest moments in your life. Oh, shit, that's a hard one. Wait, no, it's not. It's not a hard one in the slightest. The birth of my son was one of the happiest moments in my life, and a damn well deserved one at that. After everything I'd gone through, after everybody I'd lost, I had this tiny little creature who made all the pain seem worthwhile. It wasn't a nice day the day my son was born. It was cold, dreary, rainy, and the power went out while I was in labor. It was one of those days where you almost got the impression that the universe was not only laughing at you but also firmly sticking up its middle finger in your direction. And the actual labor, oh God, never have I felt a more painful thing in my life, and I've been shot, tortured, and beaten to a pulp. I know pain. | 2:36 pm | Prompt #24 -- Snow My son's a toddler, which means that snow is just about the most fascinating thing ever. I love being able to bundle him up, plunk him down outside, and watch him flail around. Of course, then he faceplants and I have to swoop down and scoop him up. But he's giggling the entire time. Such a silly little kid. I'm glad he can have this time, though. Time to be normal, to not be afraid. To not be overwhelmed by the world and the way it treats people like us. To just enjoy being a kid. And oh, he does enjoy it. Especially this winter, as it's really the first one where he's been old enough to do more than stare blankly at the snow. (Yeah, trying to see if a three-year-old would play in the snow? Didn't work.) So I take him out in the snow every day, because it makes him giggle and I'd do anything to make him giggle. His innocent, childish delight in everything makes me laugh because he's the light of my life. The joy he gets out of life makes me smile, makes me laugh, makes me happy. I know that I'm twenty-three years old. I know that I have a beautiful, intelligent, wonderful girlfriend -- hi, Kitty! -- and the world's most adorable three-year-old for a son. I know that I'm one of the most powerful empaths on the planet. I know I'm Colt, one of the X-Men. But I still don't know who I am.
